SCOA - Intern
Job Summary
SCOA has ongoing opportunities for interns from various educational institutions to complete their internship with us.
These internships will give you the opportunity to see first-hand how a national peak organisation operates. You will be actively involved in various forms of online research and may be able to assist in creating policy papers and other submissions. Previous interns have not only had the chance to participate in shaping important professional documents, but have also had articles and reports published in the bi-monthly SCOA newsletter which is distributed nationally, and posted on our website. As an intern you are given the opportunity to attend various sector meetings and consultations, which will not only give you insight into the settlement sector, but will allow you to experience first-hand how minutes are taken, how to conduct large teleconferences and how face to face meetings are organised.
The time spent on a SCOA internship will shape your research skills by allowing you to put methods learnt through a university setting into a ‘real world’ situation. The work to be undertaken will be part of real and ongoing projects currently being completed by SCOA staff. You will be able to develop your team work skills by working in a small team.
At times you will be required to work independently, so a certain level of autonomy is expected for this internship. The team is very supportive of each other, and are aware of creating a learning environment for those completing an internship with SCOA.
Please note this is an unpaid/volunteer position.
SCOA is an equal opportunity employer.
