MDA RECONCILIATION STRATEGY 2008 - 2011

Date Submitted : 26-Jun-2009

Themes : aboriginal, torres strait islander, reconciliation

Since 1991 there has been a formal national agenda which has identified and recognised the need for a reconciled Australia in which justice, hope, unity and equality is embraced and achieved with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. While multiculturalism as a policy is based on fairness, equity and a shared vision of cultural diversity, it does not encapsulate the history and struggle of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of Australia. Therefore it is imperative that MDA’s commitment is to an ongoing and mutually respectful reconciliation process.
